Mrs. Weekly Flyer’s Latest Application(s)–Cash Back, New Points, And A Must Have For Every Wallet - Points Miles and Martinis

Mrs. Weekly Flyer has a little bit of time on her hands so we thought we’d put it to work with a few more applications for some cards she could put to good use.

First up, after Mrs. Weekly Flyer re-up’d her Platinum Card® from American Express despite the latest devaluation of benefits with a $100 statement credit and 25,000 bonus point offer, she needed to diversify her plethora of flexible points. So what else, she went with the Citi ThankYou® Premier Card. With this card she’ll get 50,000 bonus points after qualifying purchases, plus, she’ll get 3x on dining and entertainment, 2x on airfare and hotels, and 1x points on all spending. These points will come in handy to supplement hotel points and airline miles for additional travel costs.

Next, she picked up the Bluebird® by American Express which she’ll load with icecream that she picks up at the local drugstore using a dusted off card (Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card – $100 Cash Back) that is currently getting 5% cash back on drugstore purchases this quarter. This is a must have for every wallet. It is a no fee card that allows you to reload it with cash every month up to $5,000. Then the money can be used to pay for any of your regular bills, pay off car loans, student loans, home loans, or just send someone a check. A great card to have in the wallet and I’ve been trying to get Mrs. Weekly Flyer to get one for over a year. She finally relents and picked one up. Can’t wait to see what she thinks about using the card.

Her last application of the day, which she was instantly approved for, was the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express, which earns 6% cash back at Supermarkets. With all the food we go through with Baby Weekly Flyer and another one on the way, this totally makes sense for every day spending. She’ll get 6% cash back at supermarkets in the US (up to $6,000 per year), 3% cash back at US department stores and gas stations.

So all in all, a great day for Mrs. Weekly Flyer. A step in the right direction with the Bluebird® by American Express, additional point diversification with the Citi ThankYou® Premier Card and a helpful card for everyday spending that will earn her 6% cash back at supermarkets.

Me on the other hand. I’m focusing on maximizing points and miles with my upcoming applications. What cards are you considering for your wallet?
