I just received an email from a reader who forwarded me on an offer from Delta offering complimentary Silver Medallion status as well as a fast track to earn Gold or Platinum Medallion status.

Delta silver

This status is only good for 2 months and then their is an offer to get Gold by flying 2 round-trip flights or Platinum Status by flight just 3 round-trip flights.

As a reminder, Gold normally requires 50,000 miles or 60 flights and Platinum normally requires 75,000 or 100 flights to earn so if you are targeted this is a great way to go for Golf or Platinum status

Here’s how you can earn each status:

Bottom Line

I think it’s quite obvious that Delta is getting worried that so many Medallion members are leaving since they announced they were switching to a revenue based loyalty program as well as slashing upgrades on flights from JFK-LAX/SFO/SEA so they figured they would try and give away their lowest status in hopes to get some new members.

Comments

  1. Why are Delta continuing to make retaining status harder, but they are willing to give it away to straingers for the cost of 0, 2, or 3 flights, even cheap ones?

  2. This is so easy that I don’t even understand how it was approved internally. What a joke.
