American Express announced today that there will be some major changes coming for American Express Platinum Card holders.
Platinum Card holders will no longer have access to American Airlines Admirals Clubs or US Airways lounges starting March 22, 2014. This applies to all personal, corporate, and business Platinum and Centurion cards.
Citi and American Airlines today announced that beginning in March 2014, the Citi Executive / AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard will be the only U.S. credit card offering full membership benefits at the American Airlines Admirals Club airport lounges.
However, American Express Platinum Cardholders will still have access to:
- Delta Sky Clubs (when flying Delta)
- Priority Pass Select Lounges
- Centurion Lounges (So far in DFW and LAS, SFO and LGA are coming soon)
- AirSpace Lounges (So far in BWI, JFK, and CLE)
Some card-members have received emails from American Express offering either $200 or $500 statement credits due to the loss of this perk.
This is a negative change to the Amex Platinum Card, if you are a US Airways or American flier, however American Express is adding more Centurion Lounges including in San Francisco and LaGuardia to help make up for this change.

We are approaching the end of the year and like each year, I take inventory of the points and miles I’ve earned and start to plan for the next year. The Weekly Flyer’s did pretty well in 2013 with earning miles and points, but not so great with burning. We racked up a few 100,000… continue reading
