30% Rebate on Hilton Cash & Points and Premium Room Awards

Hilton HHonors is offering a 30% rebate on the points cost of their two new redemption options, “points and money” (discounted awards more commonly referred to as cash and points, spend half the points and a cash co-pay) and “premium room rewards” (which usually cost way too many points to reserve better than entry-level rooms, this deal could make the option competitive in some caes or even less than the cost of a regular reward night during the promotion period).

Registration is required.

Book by January 31 for travel through June 30. You need to have the full points cost of the award in your account now, and will receive the rebate 6 to 8 weeks after your stay.

Time to re-book my upcoming cash and points award..

(HT: Points, Miles, and Martinis)

  1. Gary, To re-book your rooms, do you just change your existing reservation or do you book a new res & then cancel the old. I have a 3 night stay at the Conrad Hong Kong on points & money for March that I would like to get the discount on.
    Thanks for the heads up

  2. Thank you for the heads up. Just rebooked an award. The website point rate for a premium room was now lower than a standard room, so with a 30% rebate as well, it will became a true steal. I did find that Hilton is charging more for a premium room with two guests than for one guest. Differential was 2800 points per night. Are they trying to make up for increased lounge access? Never knew awards to vary by number of guests.

  3. Hi Gary,

I am not sure if Hilton’s website is just having a glitch but i feel like all my availabilty searches have been unsuccessful with no points or points and cash result for June/July next year =( Do you think they are truly unavailable already?

    Thanks!

  4. I rebooked my cash and points stay as soon as I saw this yesterday. I’m of the opinion rebooking isn’t necessary, but why risk it? In my case it’s a 5 night stay so it’s a 37,500 point rebate. Can’t pass that up.

The downside? While the Conrad Hong Kong still has 25K+HKD661 cash and point option available for January, they now include a 10% service charge in the rate. So my HKD3305 total went up by 330 to HKD3635. I suppose it’s worth the $42 to guarantee I qualify for the 37,500 point rebate but it still irritated me.

  5. Thanks. After seeing your post, I booked a couple “money and points” nights at the El Conquistador in Puerto Rico (whether I’ll use it depends on whether anything better comes along). Hilton still has the least attractive program for short reward stays (fewer than 4 nights), but this offer makes some redemptions at least plausible.

  6. Is there some way to tell which properties have cash + points availability or will it just show up in a rewards search if its available?

  7. I rebooked my 3 night stay at the Hilton Zurich for this promo. I had a reservation at 40000 per night and got a premium room ~50000. With the 30% rebate, I should save about 5000 miles per night. I cancelled my old reservation and booked a completely new reservation. The problem is my points from the cancelled reservation (120000) havent come back into my accunt. Any idea when these points will be credited back to my account?

    Thanks for the great blog.

  8. Thanks for posting this, Gary. I had two cash & points stays at the Hilton Adelaide booked surrounding a three day/two night visit to Kangaroo Island. I quickly rebooked them when I saw this post. (One night only had queen available instead of previously-booked king, but I figured my HHonors gold status would get that sorted.) Stays were 11 and 14 December, and the 9,000 point rebate (4,500×2) showed up on 22 December. Had lovely rooms on executive floors both nights there, and wish I’d planned to actually spend some time in Adelaide rather than just using it for its airport. The restaurant is really good, by the way, and focuses on local, South Australian cuisine.
