The American Express Premier Rewards Gold usually offers a 25,000 mile signup bonus, I won’t even include my referral link that includes that in this post since it isn’t the best current offer.

Right now the Premier Rewards Gold — a card I use for triple points on airfare and double points on gas and groceries — is available with a $0 annual fee the first year ($175 after that) and a 50,000 point signup bonus after just $1000 in spending within 3 months.

This same offer was available for a day or so last month, at the same time there was a 100,000 mile signup bonus for the American Express Platinum card.

Nothing like the bonanza from the summer of 2011 when some folks were getting 75,000 for the American Express Premier Rewards Gold, but that was a targeted offer that people were getting American Express to honor for them (they since stopped being so generous honoring such offers).

While sometimes American Express does target individuals with 75,000 point bonuses for this card, I haven’t seen a generally-available bonus greater than 50,000 on it before.

The offer is available only through CreditCards.com, as far as I am aware. It’s their referral link. On their site, select “Card Match” and add your information (social security number requested but not required). The top offer displayed for most is this 50,000 point American Express offer.

Thanks! Does this strictly apply to the personal card?

I did the 25k bonus with PRG just a month ago. Any chance I can get them to bump me up to this offer? SM or call?

I just got a AE Platinum in the mail today. I always thought mail offers were trash, maybe not? $5000 spending in 4 months (by July 12th). I just did a few apps on Monday so this is a no-go regardless, bought found it interesting.

Wife got instant approval. Nice easy 1K spend within 3 months. 50K pts. Her FICO’s close to 800. AMEX usually pulls Experian.

so if i got it in summer of 2011 and had it until April 2012…

and the bonus offer says no bonus for those who had this product in last 12 months….

will they give me the bonus?

I’m only seeing the following through creditcards.com:

    - Receive 25,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $2,000 in 3 months. Receive 15,000 points after you spend $30,000 within one calendar year.
    - Introductory annual fee of $0 for the first year, then $175.

  13. Mike said,

Never mind. I hadn’t seen your note on Card Match. Once I used that the 50k offer became available.

  14. Eric F-D said,

got card approved for both myself and wife. interesting, the terms seems to have changed…. although they require 1 year of not having this particular card previously, they shortened the timeline of not having had other Green/Platinum products to now just 90 days!!!

  15. Nic said,

There are still some 75k targeted offers in the mail.

Here is a data point that people might be interested in. My partner and I do not have (yet) an American Express Card. So I went out and tried this no AE cards were offered, but a citi and captial one cards were offered. My partner did the same thing, and he got the same thing, citi and Captial one cards. We have Citi, Chase and Captial One cards. So I assume if you have a AE card you will get this offer, if you don’t, then you wont get the offer. Now my next App o rama happens next week and 2 AE cards I’m going after.

    FYI:

“Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months or any other Consumer ZYNC®, Green or Gold Card or Platinum Card® account within the last 90 days.”

I got approved, but I do wonder if I’m going to get the bonus. I think I just had the plain Gold card, so maybe I will. I hope so!

Thanks for the heads up as always, Gary.
