  1. One thing about rushing to make a connection:
    I believe that if once you check a bag, you are considered a sure passenger on that flight. Otherwise, they will have to actually go and find your bag to get it off of the plane (in case you are a terrorist) before the flight can leave. So that could be a good way to ensure your seat on the flight – check a bag at the curb as soon as you get to it.

  2. @Jess they no longer do positive bag matching on domestic flights because baggage now gets screened, so you can definitely fly separately from your bags.
