Update: Reader Gavin confirms in the comments that this referral link generates a $20 new user credit — so the two stackable offers total $45 in free car service.
I first wrote about Uber, the on-demand car service (and taxi as well as private car) app last summer in Why Taxis Suck and What You Can Do About It.
In my experience Uber’s black car service is about 50% more than a cab, and more reliable since you can watch the car approaching you on a map on your smart phone via GPS tracking. Their other services are, of course, lower cost.
There’s normally a $10 first-time credit when you sign up (for being referred by an existing member, and the referrer gets a $10 credit with your first ride).
Yesterday my referral link appeared to be generating a $20 first-time credit although I am not sure why or for how long. So for the purposes of this post I’m only suggesting it will generate a $10 credit, but it could be more. If your referral link is generating $20 credits, feel free to leave it in the comments.
These signup offers are stackable with coupons: Amazon Local has a $25 coupon you can claim and add to your account, but only for new Uber members.
So get the Amazon local deal, sign up for Uber, and add the coupon from Amazon Local to your new account. Together that will generate at least $35 in free Uber credit.
