American Airlines Unveils New Business Class Experience With Upgraded Meals, Bedding, and Amenities

Apr 17 2024

A year and a half ago I revealed that new amenity kits, bedding, and meals would be introduced when American Airlines rolls out business class suites that will be arrive with new delivery Boeing 787-9 aircraft, and eventually be added to Boeing 777-300ERs.

The idea is that an elevated business class seat would be accompanied by new investments in other elements of the product. And it turns out we’ll see this new business class soft product Memorial Day weekend – even before the new seats arrive.

American Airlines Will Introduce New Bedding, Amenity Kits, And Meals With New Business Class

Oct 23 2022

In September American Airlines unveiled their new business class suites that would go into Boeing 787-9, Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A321XLR aircraft. These won’t be flying until 2024. But at the same time they bring an elevated business class seat into the market, the airline also plans to introduce new inflight meal service, amenity kits, and bedding as well.

I had heard this project was underway, but a little more detail was shared in an internal employee question and answer session earlier this month, a recording of which was reviewed by View From The Wing.

United Should Stop Calling Out Passengers Who Steal Business Class Bedding

May 21 2018

A year ago United directed flight attendants to keep a watchful eye over passengers who might ‘steal’ business class bedding.

United’s Polaris soft product does have nice bedding, in fact I don’t know any airline business class whose bedding is clearly better. That’s an amazing statement to make. It would have been hard to imagine two years ago that anyone would have wanted to take a business class pillow or blanket off of a United flight.

British Airways Announces Details of New Business Class Soft Product: Bedding, Amenity Kits, Service

Jul 04 2017

British Airways doesn’t have a very good business class. It’s terribly expensive when redeeming miles thanks to choke-worthy fuel surcharges which continue even in an era of $45 oil. For transatlantic flying to and from the U.S. both American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic are better. I’m not a fan of Delta’s 767s, but DeltaOne is probably better than British Airways business class.

However it makes sense to buy British Airways when it’s super cheap.

United’s New Business Seat, Bedding, and Lounges Revealed By New CEO Oscar Munoz

Jun 02 2016

Oscar Munoz took the stage at Gotham Hall in New York this morning to talk about their new push at United. It as as much about the culture of the airline as it was about the new product — the “culture of caring” and “new spirit of United” that he acknowledges has been “missing far too long.”

So the center of their design is the new Zodiac seat (coming from Zodiac UK, with a dedicated product line that United says is on-time for a seat that’s been certified).

The seat will be fully flat with direct aisle access. That puts it a cut above British Airways and Lufthansa, but plays catch up to Delta and American.

W Hotel Beds & Bedding 50% Off

It’s a Black Friday sale so the discount code BLKW3 is only guaranteed to work today. You can get a plush top Queen with box spring for $689.50 and free shipping. I recommend that bed and adding a feather bed to go on top (as opposed to the pillow top mattress, since the featherbed can be changed out). They ran a 50% off sale in October that was limited to beds and bedding. This sale is actually valid site-wide. I purchased a W Hotels bed in March 2007 using a 40% off code, so back before the May 2010 price increase on beds. My cost then was about what’s being offered with this sale. I don’t recall ever seeing lower pricing than this, though. W Hotel Store purchases post as double points earning when paying…
