Wyndham Rewards Status Upgrade for MasterCard cardholders

Through December 31, 2023 (unless extended), Wyndham Rewards and MasterCard are collaborating to offer a status upgrade to members around the globe who hold various cards issued on the MasterCard network.

The status upgrade works as follows:

  • World Elite MasterCard: Complimentary Diamond Tier
  • World MasterCard: Complimentary Platinum Tier
  • Platinum, Titanium, Standard and Gold MasterCard: Complimentary Gold Tier

You need to sign up for the Wyndham Rewards programme before you can apply for the status match. To apply, you need to follow the following steps.

  • Forward the Sign-Up Confirmation email to “WyndhamRewardsUpgrade@wyndham.com.” (Be very careful with the capitalisation, or else your email will bounce). If you’ve been signed up a long time, like me, you drop them an email with your name, membership number and the request to upgrade to the tier you qualify for.
  • Wyndham Rewards will request the “First 8 Digits of your MasterCard.” within three business days.
  • You’ll need to email back with the first 8 Digits of your MasterCard Credit/Debit card, based on which you’re asking for a status upgrade.
  • Within four weeks, you should see a confirmation of the new status in your account, although it usually works much quicker. The status upgrade, if approved, will be valid through December 2024.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Cardholders must complete their registration submission by December 31, 2023 (this date inclusive).

Just to let you know, however, that there is a list of BIN numbers provided by MasterCard to Wyndham to authenticate, and so all BIN numbers may or may not work.

Is it worth it?

Yes and no. The chain runs largely mid-end hotels, but in India, even their non-premium properties are “not bad”. Some are even big, such as the Ramada in Mumbai (next to the Juhu beach). So, if it comes for no effort, it makes sense to take the status and use it if you end up being at a participating brand over the next year.

How long does it take?

In my case, I first made the classic mistake of writing up the email address in all small letters and had my mail bounce back twice. Then, I forgot about it and finally returned to do it in early December. I wrote them a short email informing them about my World Elite credit card and requesting my status be updated to Diamond, and they circled back and asked me to confirm the first eight digits on the card. Subsequently, within a couple of days, I got an email confirmation and could see the Diamond status reflected in my account.

Bottomline

Wyndham Rewards is offering a status upgrade, all the way to their top-tier Diamond status, to MasterCard Credit and Debit card holders. If you want to benefit from this generous offer, email Wyndham your details soon and start the process.

  1. Thanks for the Update. I have used Premier Miles card to get Platinum status. The process was very simple as you have explained in your article.

However, I don’t know whether I would be using Wyndham Hotels at all in 2024, but Platinum status without any spending is worth it.

  2. Great post on this topic. Thanks.

Oh and anyone with a higher level mastercard will see “World” or “World Elite” printed on the front and back of the card usually.

  3. Thanks Ajay. I tried the mail ID provided by you, but it says we are unable to receive your mail. Any one else has faced this issue ?

    • @UnitedEF, I don’t have insights into that, but you can email on the last day and ask for it? (Assuming your status falls off the next day!)

  4. Hi Ajay,
