Marriott Homes & Villas has launched a new promotion to celebrate its 5th anniversary and with 50,000 bonus points being offered per stay (select stays only), this is one of the most rewarding promotions that we’ve seen from the Homes & Villas team to date.

50,000 bonus points with select Homes & Villas bookings

The deal

Marriott Bonvoy Members who book a private home rental and complete their 2+ night stay during the promotion earning period will get 50,000 bonus points per stay (terms and conditions apply).

Key terms

  • This promotion is only open to Marriott Bonvoy Silver, Gold, Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador elites only.
  • Registration is required (link).
  • The booking window for this deal runs from 00:01 EST on 2 May through to 23:59 EST on 10 May 2024.
  • The stay window for this deal runs from 6 May through to 31 December 2024.
  • The minimum length of stay required to trigger this deal is 2 nights.
  • The minimum spend required to trigger this deal is $2,500.
  • Full terms and conditions can be found on the Marriott Homes & Villas webpage.

Potential earnings

Homes & Villas bookings earn all Bonvoy members a standard 5 points/dollar before any elite status bonuses are factored in. With elite bonuses, this is what the standard earnings look like.

  • Silver Elite – 5.5 points/dollar
  • Gold Elite – 6.25 points/dollar
  • Platinum Elite – 7.5 points/dollar
  • Titanium & Ambassador Elite – 8.75 points/dollar

On top of those earnings a qualifying booking will earn a further 50,000 bonus points.

As things stand, I continue to value Bonvoy Points at 0.6 cents each (based on the value that I know I can get out of them with relative ease) and that means that the latest Homes & Villas promotion allows Bonvoy members to earn effective rebates of between 3% and 5.25% + bonus points worth $300.

Also, anyone making a booking with one of the Marriott Bonvoy co-branded consumer credit cards (see our comparison here) or the card_name, will earn up to 6 points/dollar spent on their Homes and Villas booking which, based on my valuation of Bonvoy points, equates to a further effective rebate of up to 3.6%.

Bottom line

Marriott has launched a new promotion for Homes & Villas bookings in which Bony members with elite status can earn a bonus of 50,000 points per stay that lasts a minimum of two nights and that costs a minimum of $2,500. Registration is required, bookings must be made by 10 May 2024 and stays must be completed by 31 December 2024.

  1. If I have a current reservation, is it possible to cancel and re-book to take advantage of the promotion? Will the inventory automatically be reloaded into the system?

    • Short answer: I don’t know.

Longer answer: Logic dictates that the inventory should reappear as, presumably, the home owner will still want to rent out their property. There is, however, something else that you should consider. Assuming the property gets put back into inventory, what will the H&V algorithm do with the pricing?

You are now closer to your check-in date than you were when you first booked so there’s a chance that even if the property is made available for bookings as soon as you cancel, the price that’s now being asked will be higher than the price you currently have locked in. That may negate the point of earning the 50,000 bonus points that are on offer.
