Quick Thoughts

This can be a solid deal if you’re able to take advantage of some of the best uses of Choice Privileges points (see On my mind (Choice Privileges edition) for some inspiration). Whether using your points to book Choice properties, Radisson properties in the US, or Preferred Hotels & Resorts, there are definitely opportunities to get outsized value out of purchased points.

I actually bought points in the last Choice Privileges sale. I was booking a Choice property in Europe where the nightly rate for the two room types I needed were 450 Euro per night and 540 Euro per night. Both rooms types were available for 20,000 Choice Privileges points per night. With this sale, I’d pay just $144.20 for 21,000 total points (14K + 7K bonus) — saving more than $300 or $400 per night at the hotel I booked (I purchased for about the same price previously and that was my move!). I’m somewhat tempted to buy some more points here just to have a balance kicking around for those opportunities when Choice points are useful, but keep in mind that you can alternatively transfer 1:2 from Citi ThankYou Rewards or Wells Fargo Autograph points. That can obviously be a good deal as well, though some may prefer to buy points here and keep those transferable points for an even more valuable use.

We’ve provided our affiliate link above, but you can also earn cashback when clicking through to Points.com from a shopping portal, which reduces the cost even further.

Is there a limit to how many you can buy in a year?

Will wait for the 100% – Those hotels in Norway are great for the points price.
