New Vistara Promotion offers a 50% reduction in CV Points required for partner redemptions

Club Vistara has launched a new promotion, offering a 50% discount on using Club Vistara points to redeem tickets on their airline/loyalty programme partners through the summer.

Use your Vistara points for Redemptions on Partner Airlines.

Vistara partners with five major carriers to offer redemption on these airlines using Vistara’s Club Vistara points: Japan Airlines, United, Air Canada, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. The airline has a separate award chart for redeeming Vistara points on partner airlines. The chart is enclosed below. It shows the price (in 1000s of Club Vistara Points) for one-way redemption on a partner airline in their economy cabin.

Here is the definition of the regions.

While the above chart is for Economy redemptions, Premium Economy is 1.6X of the Economy Class redemptions, and Business Class is 4X of the Economy Class Redemptions. That means an India to Europe Business Class ticket on Lufthansa would cost you 200K CV Points one way (compared to 120K Vistara points on their metal). This extremely high pricing has been made to ensure people are discouraged from using redemptions on partner carriers, especially in business cabins.

Also, Vistara charges points per sector, which means if there is more than one flight involved because of the lack of a non-stop flight or just because you feel like because of the redemption on a specific carrier, you might end up paying more. For instance, a direct flight – a one-way economy flight on Singapore Airlines for DEL-SIN would be 30K CV Points. But if you wanted to fly DEL-SIN-DPS, you’d pay 30K+20K for an economy redemption to Bali. Club Vistara heavily takes inspiration from Singapore Airlines for many of its rules, which also come from SQ.

This topic is rarely discussed in the loyalty world because of the extremely high redemption rates. Unless you are rolling in these, it is moot to try using CV points for redemptions on other carriers at full price.

Club Vistara is offering a 50% discount on redemptions on partner carriers.

As the merger with AI is approaching, Vistara might be trying to clean up its books of all the unredeemed points, so it has offered a new promotion to members: a 50% Discount on redemptions on partner airlines for a limited period.

You can redeem your points at a 50% discount on the partners mentioned above carriers between March 18 and April 15, 2024, and travel on these tickets between April 1 and July 31, 2024. Vistara’s Turnaround Times state that it can take up to 14 days to get your tickets issued, so plan accordingly to get your redemption tickets. You need to call Club Vistara to make a redemption request.

With the new promotion, redeeming tickets on Vistara’s Partner carriers becomes slightly more palatable if you prefer them over Vistara itself.

  • India – Tokyo on Japan Airlines for 22.5K points (Economy) one way and 90K in Business Class.
  • India – New York Newark on United for 40K Points (Economy) one way and 160K in Business Class.
  • India – Frankfurt/Munich on Lufthansa for 25K Points (Economy) one way and 100K in Business Class (Vistara Charges 30K on its metal to Frankfurt in Economy)

All you have to do is check if you have enough points, check if award availability on the partner carrier exists, pick up the phone and place a redemption request.

Bottomline

Club Vistara has launched a new promotion, offering a discount of 50% on redemptions for partner airlines, valid for tickets issued through April 15, 2024, and travel through July 31, 2024. The redemptions can be made on Japan Airlines, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, United and Air Canada.

What do you think of the new promotion from Club Vistara, and how do you intend to use it for your travel plans?
