Quick thoughts
Amex offers for Alaska Airlines spending aren’t all that common (the last one that I can remember seeing was published over five months ago), so it’s nice to see this one appear in my account this morning.
Overall (and as usual) there’s good news and bad news here.
The main bit of good news is that the $500 of spending that’s needed to trigger the $100 rebate doesn’t have to be made in a single transaction, so multiple flight bookings that add up to at least $500 will activate the rebate.
The bad news is that it looks like only airfare spending will count towards the offer’s spending requirement (the last Amex offer for Alaska Airlines included spending on a lot more than just airfare) and that the spending has to be made through Amex Travel.
As someone who really dislikes booking flights through 3rd party providers, that’s a restriction that I don’t like seeing included.
Also, out of all my Amex cards, only card_name has been targeted for this offer, so there’s a chance that if you don’t hold that card (or possibly card_name), you may not see this offer in your account.
Hopefully, that’s not the case as it would make this offer quite narrowly targeted.
Bottom line
If you have plans to spend $500 or more with Alaska Airlines in the next three months, you should check your online Amex accounts to see if you’ve been targeted for an offer that could earn you a $100 statement credit.
Make sure you read the terms and conditions of the offer carefully before you hand over your credit card details as there are a lot of restrictions attached to this offer, and make sure you don’t forget that only flight spending made through Amex Travel will count towards the offer target.
