Review: Delta Sky Club – Boston Logan Int’l (BOS), Terminal A (A7)

Nice breakfast buffet and comfortable place to get some work done

The smaller of the two Sky Clubs in Terminal A is highlighted by excellent breakfast buffet and plenty of places to recharge your devices.

The summary

The summary

The lounge is near gate A7 at Logan’s Terminal A. The lounge is one level above the departure level, meaning lounge guests must access the lounge via an elevator or ascend a staircase. Unless you have a light-weight carryon, I recommend the elevator. Once on the upper level, you enter the lounge at the rather large reception desk.

Upon entry, there is an attractive wood-finished table with plenty of outlets. Lounge guests can either veer to the left or right from here. To the left is a nice seating area with typical lounge seating, with plenty of adjacent outlets.  The ceilings are very high, which give the lounge an airy feel. There are no tarmac views. but the lounge looks out at the gate concourse.

Across from this seating area is a large coffee station, with an espresso machine. There is also a station for juices, soft drinks and infused water. A bit further along is the bar. It’s a small bar and, for a Sky Club, not very attractive. However, like all Sky Clubs, there is a nice offering of complimentary cocktails as well as premium offerings for a charge (can be paid with miles). At this early morning hour, the bar was closed. The coffee table by the entrance/exit was a nice touch for travelers in a hurry.

Across from the bar is the buffet, which was set up for breakfast. This is where Sky Clubs shine. Items on offer include fruits, yogurt, coconut water, charcuterie, muffins, a spinach-feta dish, croissants, hummus, pita spinach-feta dish, croissants, hummus, pita, two egg dishes, sausage, bacon, potatoes, bagels, and cereals.

If lounge guests veer to the right on entry, they arrive at a more traditional lounge seating area, with a variety of seating options. There are typical seats, high-top tables, another large wood table. Nice artwork adorns the walls. What might be my favorite feature was the sanitizer machine for devices.

The men’s washroom was rather small. Internet worked very well and was password protected.  Expectations for Sky Clubs are very high. Design-wise, this lounge does not match some of the others I have visited (Newark, Atlanta, JFK). Delta runs a large operation from Logan: my expectations were higher. I did not visit the larger Sky Club in the Terminal A satellite building, Nevertheless, this lounge checks most of the boxes for a domestic lounge.

I’ve written in the past about airplane window shade etiquette, which basically boils down the person in the window seat having control of the window shade’s position, with some exceptions for courtesy.
