Review: LOT Business Lounge at O’Hare (ORD), Terminal 5

by Adam Stuart | May 22, 2025 | 3 Comments

….a lot to like about LOT

The LOT Business Lounge at Chicago O’Hare’s Terminal 5 is the airline’s only lounge outside of Poland. It is a lovely space sporting a modern but comfortable design, a large and delicious buffet, a beautiful bar – with menu items listed in English and Polish, friendly staff, showers, and numerous seating options.

The summary

The lounge is located in O’Hare’s Terminal 5, which is mainly used by Delta and foreign carriers such as LOT. This lounge entry is adjacent to the terminal’s food court. This lounge speaks volumes as to what can be done with a small space. It is by no means huge, but it is so cleverly designed and laid out that it feels very open and airy (tarmac views help).

After entry, lounge visitors proceed down a hallway, adorned with LOT themed paintings. The washrooms are to the left, and the large showers are to the right. I did not need to take a shower but the kind receptionist let me take some pictures.

Then you enter the main part of the lounge. It’s really just one large room with the bar on the right and the buffet on left. The main seating area is straight ahead. The seating area is very nice with a variety of seats and tables. There are hi-back comfortable chairs, sofas, and hi-top counter/tables, where I sat and took a picture of a LOT 787 arriving. In the far corner, are some semi-private loungers. The ceiling of this main room is stunning.

The buffet on the left is extremely hearty. A variety of Polish food including perogies, stuffed cabbage rolls, asparagus and fennel, cauliflower wedges, saffron rice pilaf, salad fixings, and some decadent deserts. No one will leave hungry!

There was a coffee and espresso station, a soft drink machine and fruit infused water to drink.

Speaking of drinks, the bar is lovely. The bar menu is printed in both English and Polish and has a variety of traditional and specialty cocktails.

This lounge is open to Star Alliance Gold customers departing on a Star Alliance Flight (including United)– as well as LOT premium passengers. That being said – since most United flights are out of Terminal 1 – connecting to this lounge can be a challenge…but not impossible. It’s well worth it. I think this lounge is very special and surpasses all the United Clubs (not Polaris Lounge) at O’Hare – even the otherwise excellent United Club by gate C16. If there is a flaw – the staff had a hard time cleaning off dirty plates and glasses.

The wrap

…The details. Date – May 8, 2025. Rating: Awesome. Access: Star Alliance Gold.

..What I like: The food, bar, décor, the friendly staff.

..What I don’t like: Took a while for plates to be picked up

  1. Impossible, no, but could be potentially time consuming depending on how busy security is and/or you aren’t in a program that lets you minimize time in security.
