Finding an affordable travel deal is the dream for many. One Atlanta-based woman is making the most of a Frontier Airlines travel deal that at first blush seems too good to be true.

In a TikTok that’s garnered over 356,000 views, Queen Tay (@QueentayShops) showcases highlights from a recent whirlwind trip to Boston, Massachusetts.

“I found a $16 flight using Frontier’s GoWild Pass and we’re just randomly going to Boston on a Wednesday morning,” she says.

How Did The Trip Go?

It’s 3 a.m. and she’s hurrying through the airport, excited for her trip. She explains that it is her first time “maximizing” her GoWild Pass, and she hasn’t even booked a flight home. That is a problem for afternoon Queen Tay.

She arrives in Boston at 7:30 a.m. and after consulting social media, decides to “follow the first TikTok that came up,” she says. So she’s off to Tatte Bakery.  After a short bus misadventure (she got on the wrong one), she discovers Boston’s underground busways, and safely arrives at the bakery. There, she orders a pistachio rose cold foam ice latte and a raspberry meringue, then she goes to check out Boston Common. Queen Tay describes America’s oldest park as “like a mini, mini Central Park.”

Perhaps her most excited moment comes when she discovers Boston’s iconic Swan Boats. “It’s $4 to ride the freaking Swan Boat,” she says. “I was expecting $20.”

She then explores Boston’s beautiful public library, and gets a couple hours of work done. But suddenly, her intuition kicks in: telling her to check the Amtrak schedule out of town. And she’s equally relieved and startled by what she finds: The train she needs departs once a day from Boston, and it’s leaving in 20 minutes.

How Does The Frontier GoWild Pass Work?

The Frontier Airlines GoWild Pass is essentially an “all you can fly” ticket. It allows travelers to pay a fee for a period of travel that is either one month, five months, or an annual pass. Prices are from $149 for the month, to $599 for the year, and include international flights. There are blackout dates, but the real trick might be in the literally last-minute nature of reservations. For domestic flights, that booking is the day before the flight, and for international flights, that’s up to 10 days before the flight departs.

But it could really be worth it: the cost is 1 cent per flight. This excludes taxes, fees, other purchases like luggage and seat assignments. So the more you fly, the better your deal. Of course, this type of travel does presuppose a lifestyle that supports these eleventh-hour flights and flexibility on return flights. Because the way the promotion is run, travelers cannot book a roundtrip ticket. You’ve got to roll the dice and book your next ticket the day before (assuming domestic travel).

In the FAQ, Frontier says,  “We love affordable spontaneous travel and that’s why we created the GoWild All-You-Can-Fly Pass,” and they encourage travelers to share their adventures on social media.

And people are.

One TikTok creator, Trussellent (@TRussellEnt) notes that after you sign up for the GoWild Pass, you must wait seven days before booking a flight. She also says in order to really reap savings, try to fit your belongings in a backpack. That way, you won’t get caught paying a surprise luggage fee.

Another shared tips for luggage and for proper in-flight snacking. Thejenndanielle advises getting a carry-on with removable wheels as another way to avoid surprise luggage fees. She also suggests filling your own water bottle at the airport, and bringing snacks because “Frontier ain’t about giving you water and snacks.”

Making the Absolute Most of Crazy Travel Connections

People in the comments are curious, envious, and absolutely all about last minute travel. Or at least following along with all the adventures.

Caitlit100 offered some advice, writing, “I was traveling from Florida to Connecticut a few weeks ago and all the flights were expensive because it was so last minute so I checked my GoWild… 16$ flight from Tampa to Hartford with a 16-hour layover in San Juan Puerto Rico. Needless to say I landed at 7pm and went straight to the bars and then slept in the airport.”

Lilbedhead weighed in with some real world concerns: “As a Virgo, I admire your lack of plan but I’m terrified like pls update up with the PLAN.”

Raisingkindhumans4 wondered,”Can I be nosy? Do you utilize it enough to make the $400 yearly fee worth it?”

Queen Tay replied, “Yep even just one trip a month is more than enough to make it worth it!!”

So how did Queen Tay’s trip end? Well, despite the fact that Amtrak’s website was down, she was able to make her train. She got into Saratoga Springs, and says that even though she was sweating and a little nervous, travel like this is “100% worth the whimsy.” Though in the video’s caption she does offer a caveat: “This pass is for chaotic people only.”

BoardingArea reached out to Queen Tay via email and TikTok direct message. We reached out to Frontier via email. We will update this article if they get back to us.
