Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! It’s been 4 years since we last wrote a Thanksgiving post (2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014). It used to be an annual post where I listed items that I am most thankful for in the rewards industry!
Let’s get back to it this year. Here are my top three picks on what I am most thankful for today!
1) Thank you for the concept of reward programs! Rewarding spenders with a compensation has always felt like a win / win scenario. If clients feel appreciated for spending with a company, they will be more willing to come back, which is where the concept of “loyalty” program comes in!
2) Thank you for tax free rewards (while it lasts). I hope it’s not true, but so far, any miles, points and cash back earned is not considered taxable income. There is a movement to change this, and that could really shake up the industry. Not to mention really complicate tax returns!
3) Thank you for bonus offers. Sign up bonuses, multiplier bonuses, conversion bonuses, etc. Basically anything that gives a boost to our account balances with minimal effort (i.e. mostly just keeping tracking). Extra bonus points really fast tracks to our next goals!
