Really curious who ya all would vote for the best seat… Gotta be between Delta Suites, Polaris or the AA 787-900/777-200 Business seats (sorry i dont know the exact name on those). I like those a tad more than the AA Business seats on the 77W/A321 transcon (i find them just a tad more private and i dont mind the fixed IFE like some do).. If you all had to pick the best US airline seat what would it be? I like Jet Blue Mint for their service and the closed door but dont find the seat itself as any of the above mentioned ones……..And AA’s actual First class seat to me is worse than their 2 good options for J seats

I think you need to put AA’s 77W F seat into the mix. While older than the 321T F seat, it is nicer IMO.

What did I miss on that seat? Seems to be popular. I flew it only one time and didnt feel that privacy i do feel in the AA 787-9 seat (also on the newer retro fit 777-200)..

I guess i could see the 77W F being a trade off with the A321T but i still put the 787-9 as my fav AA seat. And i love that plane too..

Maybe in addition to the actual seats, the Reverse herringbone Vs. staggered plays a part as some ppl i have spoken to are adamant they prefer one way much more than the other.

Well if you go based on Ben’s review, it’d be Delta’s Suites.

All 3 US airlines have seats that make his list, but Delta is ranked highest.

I’d have to agree with [USER=29]@David W[/USER] and [USER=4]@Lucky[/USER] having just flown to CDG two weeks ago in a DL One Suite. I still do more than half of my international travel on AA and, apart from the remaining 767s (which will be soon retired, and which I avoid), it’s a solid product. The rocking problems with the Zodiac seats on some aircraft are supposed to be fixed (hopefully soon). The problem with DL is that they are still flying a whole lot of 767s, with no near term plans to retire them, and avoiding those are a lot harder. As for Polaris, the rollout is at a snail’s pace and the current (old) product is just awful.

I must have missed that article that DAvid linked. That really broke it down well. I love AA 787-9 its my fav seat. I like it more than the A321/77W J seat (think those are Cirrus not Super Diamond) and even more than the 77W first seat. Old Polaris is hideous but the new set up is nice. Just kind of bad if you’re flying alone and get stuck in the middle in the Even rows (you are so close to the person next to you )

First time on delta one suites coming up soon so cant wait to compare it..

On a side note i didnt even know about Appex suite? Never heard of it until reading what David linked. Why is appex so popular? it looks like you are sitting next to someone, thats not very private

Regarding Apex – yeah youre sitting next to someone but its pretty private because the dividers go up. And with its staggered configuration (window pair seats, 3 seats in the middle), it’s direct aisle access for all passengers. Ben especially likes the window seats of Apex suites as they’e the most private business class seats in the sky (aside Qatar’s QSuites and Delta One Suites, with the latter’s doors having an inch gap when closed)

I dont see the appeal i mean with normal staggered seating, take Polaris or Delta One Suites, you have the row to yourself. Its a true 1-2-1..

This Appex would be considered a “2” yes? Like 2-2-2

I see that you dont have to confine your feet to a footwell and that its private in the window one but i dont see how lay out wise its better than Polaris or DL Suites staggered

Also just so was curious since you seem to know your seats but for AA 321T First and 773 Business on AA, those seats are made by Zodiac right? Whereas 787-9 the seat i find the best that is made by a company called B/E, is that right?

Yeah, AA A321T First and 77W Business are the same seat made by Zodiac, though i think the one on the A321 is narrower than it’s 77W counterpart because the cabin isnt as wide. The one on their 789 is by B/E. Both are reverse herringbone type seats, just configured differently. BE’s version has a fixed IFE screen with the tray table underneath it and slides out toward you. Zodiac’s version has an IFE screen that swings out and the tray table is on the side

Yes Apex seats are 2-2-2 or 2-3-2, depending on the aircraft. Delta’s Suites are staggered 1-2-1. UA’s Polaris is billed as 1-2-1 though the configuration itself is pretty compact. You can be pretty close to someone in United’s Polaris seat.

I dont think it’s any worse off than UA Polaris/Delta One Suites. JL’s Apex suites are pretty wide. The seat itself is 25″ across, whereas Delta’s Suites are 22-24″ and United’s Polaris is 22″

In all three seats, you’ll have seats that are more private than others and ones that are more exposed to the aisle. I’d be happy in any one of these seats. JAL of course will have better service than UA or DL.

And, as long as we’re mentioning it, I’d prefer to have a handsome guy next to me 😉

Thank you for the Zodiac confirmation, i thought they were same seat. i think the review i was reading was saying that although the same seat, the A321 one just feels a little not as wide and then a slightly smaller foot well

I like the B/E one more, i feel like the shell is a little taller making it more private and i love how sleek it is. I just like Reverse herringbone more than any of these staggered lay outs, delta, polaris or this Appex set up i just discovered… I dont mind the fixed TV i have slept lax/dfw and dfw/lax multiple times and never banged into it how ppl have mentioned they have. Its possible though loving the 787 so much makes me think of that seat as better than the Zodiac one . Also, i once was on the 787-8 by AA and the seats freaking ROCK and are a joke so i think just zodiac in general rubbed me the wrong way

Cant wait to do Delta Suites for this asian flight home and then i can finally be able to personally choose a fav, as thats the only one i have not flown

David do you know if the Row 1 Foot well is larger on Delta One Suites? On United Polaris it is and on the B/E Super Diamond on AA it is not. I am finalizing seat assignments.. I would never want to choose Row 1 on a long flight as sleep could be disrupted from the front galley. I like Row 2 if 4 total rows or Row 3 or 4 if its 6-8 ish total rows in the J cabin. However, i have to work right when i get back and need to sleep. The larger foot wells really do make a difference. I was going to just take Row 3 right up against the window but just wanted to inquire on the foot well thing. Seems like some seats have the larger well in Row 1 and some dont. Cant seem to find anything online showing exactly which planes do and which dont

Not sure. It could be. Read some reviews of the seat/flights with D1 Suites? Some will mention whether the foot space will be larger or not.

Personally, I’ve never had issues with sizes of footwells of various seats so it’s not something I specifically look for.

I took 4A. Cant find anything on larger foot well. I will be fine. I think its just United where it seems like there really is a substantial difference. I like Row 1 with them on the 787-10 lax/ewr. Also, i dont sleep on that route really so being in row 1 near the galley isnt a huge issue.

8 flights in 13 days, tokyo, singapore. hong kong, shanghai, sydney and australia. this will be a once in a life time trip for me.. all seat assignemnts are looking good, my only issue is this new hiccup with AA and the whole retro fit 772 thing. i apparently have a 60% chance of the good set up.
