In January of 2014, American will begin service with their new A321 transcontinental fleet, which will initially fly between New York and Los Angeles, and then between New York and San Francisco. These new A321s will feature reverse herringbone suites in first class, and fully flat beds in business class, making American the only airline that will continue to offer three cabin service on transcontinental routes.
American’s first A321s will go into service on January 7, 2014, initially operating two flights daily. By January 15, 2014, they’ll be offering five daily A321 frequencies, and by January 31, 2014, six of the nine daily frequencies will be operated by A321s.
To celebrate the new aircraft, American is offering up to 15,000 bonus AAdvantage miles for travel between New York and Los Angeles between January 7 and March 31, 2014. You earn 15,000 bonus miles per roundtrip in paid first/business class, 10,000 bonus miles per roundtrip in paid full fare economy class, and 5,000 bonus miles on most discounted economy fares, excluding the “O” and “Q” fare buckets. One-way tickets are eligible for half of the bonus. In order to qualify the flight has to be operated and marketed by American. All nonstop travel between New York and Los Angeles is eligible for the bonus, even if the flight is operated by a 767-200.
Registration is required prior to travel using promotion code TR15K. Best I can tell you can earn the bonus miles even if your origin and destination aren’t Los Angeles and/or New York. That means, for example, if you purchase a ticket from Seattle to Los Angeles to New York, you should still be eligible for the bonus miles between Los Angeles and New York.
The full terms read as follows:
