Background and Location

I stayed at The Westminster London, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton for a 2-night stay. The property is a minute’s walk from the River Thames and less than half a mile from the Tate Britain. It’s also quite centrally located to Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey which are all within a mile. And for Tube access, you can access the Pimlico Underground station half a mile away. We also walked 30 minutes (1.3 miles) to catch a train at Waterloo to go to Stonehenge. The property features 464 rooms and suites.

Rates for The Westminster London start at approximately 160 GBP a night or 51,000 Hilton Honors Points but can vary depending on the season. Pros: Beautifully renovated property, with a comfortable suite. The rooftop fitness center is also a plus.
Cons: I wish they spread out the breakfast seating more as it felt cramped.
Takeoff Point: A solid option with comfortable rooms in a tranquil part of a London neighborhood, yet still very convenient to major sites.

Arrival

We arrived by Uber, and the area looked quite nice with luxurious residential buildings in the area, but it was definitely on the quieter side, which could be great for those wanting to relax after a day exploring the city.

We were quickly checked in and received the keys to the room. Our room was on the top floor, which happens to be the 13th.

As you walk towards the elevators to the guest rooms, there is some additional lobby seating and some conference space.

As we arrived on our floor, I saw some signs about the hotel and nearby sights that made me feel like I was in a cool movie and provided some history lessons.

King One Bedroom Suite

Upon entering the suite into the foyer, there is a large freestanding coat rack which I found quite cool.

Then to the left, is a large walk-in closet. I love that it was motion-censored, and the lights would turn on when you walked in. Inside, you can find an iron/board, wooden hangers, slippers, a hair dryer, a safe, and two robes. There is also a built-in luggage rack that can fit a carry-on bag.

In front of the closet, are the Nespresso Machine, and the hot water kettle. Nespresso capsules and tea bags were provided complimentary. Additionally, there was a mini fridge for personal use.

And, a welcome amenity of macarons was waiting upon our arrival.

Living Room

Upon entering the living room, there is a nice desk area with a light-up mirror that can serve as both a desk for working, as well as a vanity area. A bottle of still and a bottle of sparking were provided in the room complimentary.

The living room has both an armchair and a large sofa. The sofa can be converted into a double-sized bed which can be very helpful for families or larger groups staying together. And, there is a TV in the living room.

I loved the light tan wood paneling that served as the walls throughout the room. It felt very nice and bright. There were two climate controls, one for the living room, and one for the bedroom area which was nice to be able to control each room separately.

Sofabed Mode

Bedroom

Pass the living room through the pocket doors that can be closed, in the bedroom. There’s a large king-sized bed and two nightstands on each side. I liked how power outlets were located on each side, and they had USB charging as well which was helpful in not having to use a converter. There is a TV in the bedroom as well.

Bathroom

To the left of the bedroom is the bathroom, and I thought it was quite roomy and designed. Despite only having a single sink, there was ample storage space, and I liked the extra door closing off the toilet area. Then, there was a huge tub, that also featured a rainfall showerhead and wand.

Shower/Tub

The tub was so big, it was perfect for bubble baths.

Bath

Toiletries were branded specially for the hotel and were a Fresh Citrus scent provided by Gilcrest and Soames. A bar of soap for the sink, lotion, body gel, and a shampoo/conditioner combo were provided in refillable bottles. I was fine with the scent provided, but wish they would have both a shampoo and a separate conditioner.

Dining

Located on the 1st floor, the main restaurant for the property is a steakhouse and bar, that also features a private dining room for events. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The breakfast buffet was served at the Westminster Bar and Grill, and it featured a pretty solid selection. They had a juice and tea/coffee station as well as a pastry station featuring honeycomb.

They also had bread and bagels and cold cuts with hams and cheeses, along with some fruit and yogurts.

In terms of hot items, they had a selection of ham, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, hashbrowns and scrambled eggs. They also had an eggs station where they had fried eggs but you could also get customized eggs like poached, boiled, and an omelet with cheese, tomatoes, peppers, and onions.

I enjoyed the omelet, and got it on both days, with a standard omelet on the first day, but an egg white omelet on the next day. It was quite tasty!

On the first day, the fruit selection could have been improved upon as it was mainly canned fruits like mandarin oranges and peaches. But on the second day, thankfully they added cut watermelon and cantaloupe.

The only thing I didn’t love about the breakfast was the seating arrangement. It would be quite busy each day, but they mainly sat guests close together in the main area near the buffet. I wish they spread people more out, as they have a beautiful area with large booths that I assume are used more for dinner on the right-hand side of the restaurant. I wish they reconfigured the seating a bit and spread it out for more comfort.

If you prefer to dine in the comfort of your own room, there is room service until 10 pm.

On the ground floor next to the lobby, this casual dining option is open daily from 7 am and serves hot drinks, juices, sandwiches, and snacks throughout the day. The café also offers an array of soft drinks and canned cocktails.

Fitness Center

This is probably one of the coolest fitness centers I’ve been to at a hotel since it’s on the rooftop essentially and has great views of the city. You could look at the London Eye while doing free weights, how cool is that! While it’s not a huge fitness center, it has everything you need.

Bowling Alley

A unique feature that the hotel offers is that they have a single-lane bowling alley! It’s available for private parties and events bookable through the events team.

The Verdict

Overall, I had a great stay at the Westminster London, Curio Collection by Hilton. The suite was very comfortable, and quiet making it a solid home base for my exploration of London and my day trip to Stonehenge & Oxford. I would definitely consider staying here again when my travels bring me back to London.
