Lounge Review: American Express Centurion Lounge – New York LaGuardia (LGA)

…Smaller Centurion Lounge checks all the boxes

When: September 17, 2024

Rating: 8/10 – Deligthful

Access: Platinum Card (3 hours before departure)

The American Express Centurion Lounge at LaGuardia is not the largest in the Centurion network but it has all features that have made these lounges so popular over the years: Elevated food options, a great no fee bar, shower suites, and great areas to both work and relax.

The lounge is in the beautiful new terminal B – right next to the Chase Sapphire lounge and near the bridge to gates 41 to 59, which serves Air Canada, Frontier, Jetblue, Southwest and United. Access is easy to American Airline (also terminal B) passengers too.

Next to the reception desk, you will notice a small coffee station – perfect for travelers upon leaving the lounge. After you present your credentials, there is a room to the right and travelers will immediately be struck by the familiar motif: deep blues, artwork, bookcases, etc. This room has a beautiful blue sofa. These lounges all have a luxurious yet comfortable design. Right behind the reception desk is a small hallway, with access to the washrooms and shower suites. I suggest reserving/asking for a shower upon entry if that’s your desire. There can be a wait.

Past the first room is the dining area anchored by a buffet with food crafted by a local chef – a feature throughout the network. Among the many options was a delicious harrisa chicken. It was around noon – and the lounge thoughtfully still had some breakfast items – like French toast. Staff is always replenishing the food. Behind the main dining area is the large and comfortable bar. You will notice that there are no tarmac views in this location. The lounge overlooks the Terminal B departures hall.

Past the bar, to the left and behind the hallway with the washrooms is my favorite part of the lounge – the area that’s truly dedicated to those seeking to get work done. This area is called the Business Lounge and has a hushed feel to it and many comfortable work stations. There is a coffee and infused water station in here as well as two private phone rooms. There is an attractive room set aside for Centurion Card (aka black card) holders.

There is an astounding variety of seats throughout: tables, private seats for one, sofas, high-top tables, lounge seating that are ideal for groups. I had no problem finding outlets.

I rate this lounge 8/10. Best features: The buffet and décor. Flaws: Crowds – the staff had a hard time keeping up with the dirty dishes.
