Lounge Review: United Club, Terminal 2 – London Heathrow
simply….the finest United Club in the world
When: September 28, 2023
Rating – 8.5/10 – Very Awesome
Access – United Club Membership
This is the finest United lounge – that is not a Polaris lounge – in the entire system. In fact, it comes close to Polaris lounges with its amenities. It’s arguably the best lounge of all Star Alliance carriers in Heathrow. Considering Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Singapore all have lounges in Terminal 2 – that says something. A huge no charge bar, elevated buffet offerings, and excellent shower suites are the highlights.
The lounge is in the remote concourse of Terminal 2, near gate B46. Travelers need to go up one flight to entire the lounge. To the right is the former first class section – which is used for global services members (not me!). The main part of the lounge is to the left. I accessed lounge with my United Club membership – but Polaris class flyers also have access.
Once inside the large buffet with numerous hot and cold items is on the right. Then the seating area has many sections, broken up with attractive translucent blue dividers. There is a variety of seating options throughout. You will have no problems finding outlets – which accept US plugs. The highlight is the very long bar – and unlike domestic United clubs and like Polaris lounges, there is no charge for premium drinks. Another highlight are the numerous and attractive shower suites. The vintage United photos that are displayed in the lounge are also a nice touch.

If there is a downside – it could be crowding. United runs a large number of flights out of Heathrow. This limited the number of pictures I took. Depending on your status – you can try out some of the other Star Alliance lounges in Heathrow. The Silverkris lounge by Singapore Air was recently done, and the Maple Leaf Lounge by Air Canada is also lovely (review coming).
I rate this lounge 8.5/10. Best features: The bar, shower suites, the views, proactive staff, buffet that is better than domestic clubs and the décor. Flaws: Crowds
