Review: United Club at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Terminal E

by Adam Stuart | June 3, 2025 | 0 Comments

…Smaller non-hub lounge with nice breakfast buffet, friendly staff, with views of the ramp

Exemplifying United’s mid-2010s aesthetic, the United Club at DFW airport is an attractive (albeit small) space with a rather expansive buffet, friendly staff, and great views of the busy tarmac…

The summary

This small lounge is in Terminal E, near gate E7, in that part of the terminal where United flights depart from. This lounge reflects United’s rather diminutive presence at DFW, which is American’s largest hub. Upon entry, the manned reception desk is on the left, with a couple of attractive blue chairs immediately opposite, along the right wall. After presenting your credentials to the welcoming reception agents, lounge patrons walk straight ahead and can pretty much see the entire lounge.

During this era (mid 2010s), United chose uniformity in its lounge design. Frequent travelers will note the familiar décor, clean lines, faux marble, lots of beiges. In smaller lounges like this one, the décor adds an airiness and openness to the space, along with floor to ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light. This design works better in smaller lounges as opposed to the some of the larger spaces, such as the B6 lounge at Chicago O’Hare, where the lack of color seems more pronounced. However, I would not object to a splash of color even here.

Just past reception and to the right is a small seating area with a communal hi-top table along the windows, with typical lounge seats behind that. Beige predominates. This area sports some vintage United photos, which are always some of my favorite design elements of United Clubs. There is one small phone room/office in this area. This area is separated from the main part of the lounge by a small translucent divider. This section also is where patrons would find the washrooms.

Straight past reception is a small, infused water station. To the left past reception is the small but nice L shaped bar, with the familiar chandeliers above. Like all standard United Clubs, there is a charge for premium drinks. The bartender is extremely friendly. The bar area is surrounded by table seating, ideal for no more than two patrons.

Past the bar was the rather extensive buffet. Items on offer in the morning included: egg frittatas, turkey sausage, potatoes, a variety of breads and other baked items, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit, and cereals (hot and cold). Adjacent to the buffet was the coffee, tea, and espresso station and a soft-drink machine. Seating around the buffet consisted of more small tables and tables along the wall, where you have a choice of seating on a sofa or chairs. Along the wall was another vintage plane photo.

Separated by more translucent dividers and behind the dining area is the main working part of the lounge. There is a variety of seating here as well.  There is nothing really remarkable about this room – a long communal table and typical lounge chairs. The large windows help.

Internet access is free and worked well. Outlets were easily accessible. The staff at this lounge is uniformly excellent – something I have noticed on other visits. Everyone was professional, friendly and worked to keep the food stocked and the lounge clean.  I might not arrive early to spend time in this lounge, but it’s a decent place to eat and wait for your flight.

What I like: The staff, the buffet, tarmac views

What I don’t like: Crowds at peak times, lack of color.
