Review: Delta Sky Club at Newark International Airport, Terminal A

by Adam Stuart | June 7, 2025 | 1 Comment

…Good things come in small spaces…excellent non-hub lounge

Delta’s Sky Club at Newark Airport is a luxuriously appointed smaller lounge highlighted by a décor that celebrates its location, a large buffet, a bar with a surprisingly large selection amount of drinks for no charge, and an attentive staff.

The summary

The lounge is on the mezzanine level in Terminal A, across from the American Admiral’s Club and next to the larger United Club. The reception area requires travelers to scan their boarding pass but there are agents on hand to assist. After you you present your credentials, you enter an attractive seating area with warm rich earth tones and wood dividers. Most seating is along sofas with small tables.

The larger seating area is along the perimeter of the lounge: and this is where the design truly stands out. This area is open to and overlooks the terminal (none of the lounges in the terminal – as of yet – have windows facing the tarmac) and although some noise from below comes through, it is not very intrusive. This area has a variety of seating: hi-top tables, semi-private individual seats that are richly designed, and additional sofas. The entire area is partitioned into several sections with large wood backed dividers. These dividers have either televisions or pictures that celebrate New Jersey. One is a picture of Sinatra, one of Springsteen, the other is the logo of Campbell soup. It’s a great homage to New Jersey.

To the right of the reception is the rather extensive buffet. Items on offer included: lentil soup, chicken soup, various cheeses and meats, cold chicken breast, hummus and a roasted pepper dip, pita and flatbreads, salad fixings, roasted vegetables, marinated pork, macaroni, chickpea stew, ham and cheese sandwiches, roasted vegetable sandwiches, and some dessert items on a table opposite the buffet.

Past the buffet is the large beverage station with Starbucks coffee, a juice machine, iced tea, an espresso machine and a soft drink machine. Seating by the buffet area is a mix of typical tables and hi-top seating.

To the left of reception is the attractive bar. This took me by surprise. While there is a charge for some premium offerings and “signature” cocktails, there is a very extensive list of beer, wine and “classic” cocktails free of charge. Washrooms are near the bar and are all individual rooms.

Internet access is free (you can get the password upon entry, and the password is posted on some signs) and worked well. Ironically, when I launched my browser, I was automatically connected to the United Club network – the lounges are next to each other. Outlets are everywhere. The staff in this lounge was diligent: dirty dishes did not linger. After spending time in this lounge, I understand why Sky Clubs have an elevated reputation. This lounge in Newark was very impressive and provides a more elevated offering than the neighboring United Club, which is a fine lounge and my typical “go to” when flying out of this terminal. The buffet and bar in this small lounge are truly impressive.

What I like: The buffet, the bar, the decor.

What I don’t like: Can’t think of a thing.
