Review: Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Washington Dulles Int’l Airport (IAD), Concourse A

by Adam Stuart | August 26, 2025 | 1 Comment

The Dulles Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse has many of the features that people appreciate about these lounges: mainly a modern and playful decor. But for Priority Pass passengers, nearly everything has to be paid for.

The summary

The Dulles Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse is near gate A32, and there is no entrance fee for Priority Pass passengers. I was warmly welcomed into the lounge but the receptionist informed me that it was closed to priority pass members at 2:00 pm, when it is then designed to cater to business class passengers on Virgin Atlantic (and other qualified flyers) To the right seems to be a room where travelers can store luggage.

To the left of reception is the main seating area. This area has the design and seating that Virgin Clubhouses are noted for: bright colors and a playful design. There are also couple of desks for those wanting to get work done. These desks were occupied during my visit. Floor to ceiling windows offer great views of the tarmac. One problem is that throughout the lounge outlets are lacking.

On the right side of the seating area (behind reception) is the buffet and bar. There is a limited buffet with some sandwiches, salads, and snacks. Guests can order food made to order from anywhere in the lounge via QR code – but there is a charge for that. I took a snapshot of only one page of the food menu.

Similarly, there is a small soft drink/coffee/infused water station. And there is an attractive bar. But most drinks are for a charge, and like the food, you order via a QR code and have the drinks brought to you. I took a snapshot of only one page of the extensive drink menu.

There are individual washrooms and a nicely appointed shower suite. Use of the shower is not complementary for Priority Pass passengers. There is an upstairs seating area, but that was cordoned off early in the afternoon.

So – a common theme at JKF, LAX, SFO and here at Dulles. Virgin Atlantic offers Priority Pass travelers access to their clubhouses, but the full range of offerings will come at a cost. I actually prefer the LAX set up – where you pay a flat fee up front, without the need to pay once in the lounge. Thus, these lounges merely offers Priority Pass passengers a place to sit before there flight. As far as the Dulles clubhouse is concerned, the paucity of outlets makes getting work done problematical.

The wrap

The details. Date – August 24 2025. Rating: Use in a pinch. Access: Priority Pass

What I like: The bright decor, the tarmac views.

What I don’t like: Lack of outlets, limited offerings for Priority Pass passengers.

One thought on “Review: Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at Washington Dulles Int’l Airport (IAD), Concourse A

  1. I remember in the early 2000s, the Virgin Atlantic Club at IAD was very nice, even luxurious. But after a recent visit, it struck me as a waste of time. Very limited seating, mediocre snacks, and a $9 charge for Bloody Mary. As a Priority Pass member, one has access to several lounges in the B Terminal. Next time, I’m interested in visiting the Emirates, Turkish or AirFrance lounge.
