Review: Capital One’s Lounge – Denver (DEN), Concourse A

by Adam Stuart | July 21, 2024 | 0 Comments

This lounge is a jewel; probably the best at Denver, highlighted by amazing pre-plated buffet, bar, showers, views, and hardworking staff.

The summary

With the revised United Clubs and a Centurion Lounge, Denver now has a stellar collection of lounges, and the Capital One Lounge, in terms of offerings, might be the best.

The lounge is in Concourse A, which houses a many foreign carriers, Delta, Frontier and United – but most United flights are in Concourse B. All concourses are connected via underground train – so even if departing in another concourse, you can access the lounge (just leave ample time).

The entrance is near gate A34, and you have to take an escalator to enter. Once you are processed by the customer service representative, most of the action (bar, buffet, showers and washrooms) are to the right. More seating areas to the left. After entry, the bar and buffet are to the left. However, plenty of quiet seating to the right. The clean modern design reflects that of the flagship Capital One Lounge in Dallas – minus some of the more unique amenities (e.g., relaxation pod, exercise machine).

Dining is a highlight, with pre-plated buffet options (no scooping food on to a plate), great pre-packaged items for passengers in a hurry and an inventive bar.  For lunch, I had an excellent chicken/mango rice offering, some grilled broccoli with garlic and salmon spread on a small pita. It was delicious. The dining and bar area has stellar views of the tarmac and Jeppsen Terminal building.

Nothing is better than a quick shower before a connecting flight. The shower rooms are very well appointed. The water pressure is excellent, and of course, shampoo/conditioner are provided. NOTE: If you want a shower, ask the reception attendant upon entry – there may be a waiting list. On my most recent visit, I was lucky, there was no wait. The other highlight is the proactive staff: friendly, always cleaning up and very professional.

The wrap

…The details. Date – July 11, 2024. Rating 9/10 -Very Awesome. Access: Capital One Venture X card (3 hours before departure)

..What I like: The décor, the buffet and bar, the showers, and the staff

..What I don’t like: Crowding, especially if flights are delayed. I had a 15 minute wait on a previous visit.

Southwest flight attendants have voted down higher union dues three times, but the proposal is back for a fourth try. This time, the union is limiting ballots to in-person meetings, turning a $5-a-month ask into a fight over turnout, process, peer pressure and whether “no” actually means no.
