Lounge Review: United Club, Terminal 2 – London Heathrow

simply….the finest United Club in the world

When: March 8, 2025

Rating – 9/10 – Very Awesome

Access – United Club Membership

Before a recent Swiss flight to Zurich from Heathrow, I had a chance to revisit the United Club at London Heathrow. I am glad to report – nothing has changed. In fact the buffet may be MORE substantial. This is the finest United lounge – that is not a Polaris lounge – in the entire system. In fact, it comes close to Polaris lounges with its amenities. It’s arguably the best lounge of all Star Alliance carriers in Heathrow. Considering Air Canada, Lufthansa, and Singapore all have lounges in Terminal 2 – that says something. A huge no charge bar, elevated buffet offerings, and excellent shower suites are the highlights.

The lounge is in the remote concourse of Terminal 2, near gate B46. Travelers need to go up one flight to enter the lounge. To the right is the former first class section – which is used for global services members (not me!). The main part of the lounge is to the left. I accessed lounge with my United Club membership – but Polaris class flyers also have access.

Once inside, there is a room on the right with the large buffet offering numerous hot and cold items. As of the most recent visit in March 2025, the buffet offerings seemed elevated: Beef bourguignon! Chicken milanese! Coronation chicken wraps! I heartily enjoyed them all. The adjacent seating area is mainly one very large room, broken up by attractive translucent blue dividers into several sections. The vintage United photos that are displayed in the lounge are also a nice touch. There are a variety of seating options throughout. You will have no problems finding outlets – which accept US plugs. The highlight is the very long bar – and unlike domestic United clubs but like Polaris lounges, there is no charge for premium drinks. Another highlight are the numerous and attractive shower suites. The staff offered me slippers and a hair dryer and asked if I needed anything pressed!

If there is a downside – it could be crowding. United runs a large number of flights out of Heathrow. But although at some point the decor will be dated and a refresh might be coming, the lounge is very well maintained.  Depending on your status – you can try out some of the other Star Alliance lounges in Heathrow. I visited the more sedate Maple Leaf Lounge  before walking down to the United Club for lunch.

I rate this lounge 9/10. Best features: The bar, shower suites, the views, proactive staff, buffet that is better than domestic clubs and the décor.  Flaws: Crowds

2 thoughts on “Lounge Review: United Club, Terminal 2 – London Heathrow

  1. The photos of this lounge really sell it. I appreciate the thoughtful rating and discussion of its determination. I can’t wait to try this club at Heathrow the next time I’m flying back from London!

  2. I appreciate reading a real review! Enough already of the Sky Skylar garbage that has been polluting this site.
