Lounge Review: VIP Lounge (PUJ – Terminal B, Gate 31) (Yes, It Has an Infinity Pool)
While flying back to the United States from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) today, we had the chance to check out one of the three VIP Lounges operated there. We were departing from Terminal B and went to the newest location near Gate 31 (there is another in Terminal B by Gate 24). What might make this lounge the most unique in the entire world is that it offers an outdoor infinity pool overlooking the runway (the other location has a pool as well).
Access
Access is granted to Priority Pass members. It’s easy to get one of these cards as most premium credit cards offer them as a perk. The lounge limits guests to two hours of time in the lounge (I’m not sure how they enforce that). There is a desk to check credentials upon entering the lower level. After you’re checked in, it’s an elevator ride up to the lounge.

The elevators were quick even with two of three working.
Anthony’s Take: This is a gorgeous new lounge and one of the nicest that I’ve encountered in the Caribbean. I find the addition of an outdoor infinity pool to be such a nice touch (the lounge offers a locker room and showers as well). Other than that, food is rather minimal and blah. Beverages are also pretty scant (guests are allowed two alcoholic beverages each).

Bar
A bar is to the right upon entering. It offered beer, wine, some liquor, and limited soft drinks.

Water, coffee, and juice were offered near the bar.

More water was offered near the Children’s Room.
Food
Lunch/dinner was being served when we visited the lounge. The buffet was pretty basic with some pasta, a hot dish, a sandwich ingredients, some salad ingredients, and desserts.

Kid-friendly sandwiches were outside of the Children’s Room.

Chicken Fajitas (minus the tortillas)

Seating & Decor
The lounge was spacious and felt brand new. I loved the tropical decor and plants throughout the space. It had tons of natural light and even though the airport was insanely busy, the lounge was a quiet oasis.

There were all sorts of seating configurations throughout the lounge. (I’m not sure who has access to the Owner’s Lounge or what was inside.)

Amenities
The lounge offered free Wi-Fi, restrooms, a departures board (pictured above), a Children’s Room, an outdoor pool, locker rooms with showers, a customer service desk, as well as the food and beverages mentioned above.

The customer service desk was not staffed (it was located outside of the elevators upstairs).

The infinity pool was such a cool amenity.

There were men’s and women’s locker rooms outside near the pool.

The men’s locker room offered two sinks, lockers, a single toilet, and a single shower. Towels are available at the front desk.

The Children’s Room is to the left upon entering.

Overall Impression:
Many of the lounges that Priority Pass provides access to are not that exciting. They beat waiting in the terminal, but that’s about as much praise as I’ll give them. This one was different. It’s tropical decor and infinity pool made it feel like the vacation had not ended yet. That’s a pretty cool feat to pull off in an airport lounge.
