A woman’s Jamaica holiday has gone viral after she arrived at her Airbnb and realized something was … off.
TikTok creator Eliana Baig (@eliana.baig) shared a video that has garnered over 14.9 million views. It shows the unusual situation they encountered in Jamaica after showing up at the resort property they’d rented through Airbnb.
In the clip, she films her friend standing on the ground floor, looking confused, while she records from a balcony above.
“This is insane,” she says. “We come to the resort. There’s not a soul in here. All the rooms are open.”
“POV: YOU BOOK A RESORT ON AIRBNB IN JAMAICA AND FIND OUT, IT IS ABANDONED,” Baig writes in the video’s text overlay.
She films several buildings around her, all looking empty, and opens the door to a room that appears to be in clean, usable condition.
“Ended up choosing the room with the best view,” she wrote in the caption.
In the comments section, some viewers found the situation entertaining, while others were concerned about the two women’s safety.
“Give us the location so we can have a free weekend getaway,” one viewer joked.
“Who checked you in??” another asked. “Nobody!!” Baig responded.
“i hope you posted this AFTER you left Queen,” a third said.
Bag clarified, “Guyssss this was from 2024, I would never post my actual location online.”
She also shared more details about how it all happened.
“Nobody was there, we were asking locals if they could help us, all the room doors were open, we didn’t know which room was ours, no staff , no guests, middle of nowhere,” she wrote. “There was a family that we found later on close to the resort that told us they could take us somewhere where we could find food if we paid them , which we did.”
While this situation is unusual, it’s not uncommon for guests to arrive at a property that doesn’t match the listing in some way.
Some travelers have reported suspicions about things like two-way mirrors or hidden cameras in the home, or even booking a 5-bedroom home and arriving to find a camper instead.
If something like this happens, Airbnb recommends trying to resolve the issue directly with the host first. If that doesn’t work, guests can use the “Get Help” button on their reservation page.
If the situation feels urgent or you feel at risk in any way, users can contact local emergency services through the app or call Airbnb’s support line, which the company states is available 24/7.
