Woman Gets Quoted $94K For A 13-Day Honeymoon. Some Travelers Think It’s Worth It

A woman who is getting married in July said the quote her travel agent sent for a 13-day honeymoon with Singita in Africa came back at $94,561.22. The video, which has drawn more than 606,000 views, features in-the-know commenters saying the price is roughly what you should expect from the safari brand. Some of them have even paid it.

In the TikTok, Niki Howard (@niki_howard), whose channel varies across fashion, beauty and travel content, says, “We were just quoted $94,561.22 to stay with Singita in Africa,” she says. “That was a fun email to get, and as you can imagine we won’t be doing that. But I want to share what $94,000 will get you, so stand by.”

Howard didn’t respond to a direct message sent via Instagram.

Upscale Safaris

Singita operates 21 luxury safari lodges across five African countries—South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Botswana—and is widely regarded in the high-end travel trade as the ceiling of the category. The brand’s published per-night rates, broken out by lodge and season, are not visible to casual browsers without a date selection, but third-party operators publish them openly. AfricanMecca lists 2026 rates for Singita Sasakwa Lodge in the Serengeti at between $6,860 and $8,925 per adult sharing a room for a three-day, two-night package, with the high end falling in the May-to-September peak.

Divided across 13 days and two people, the $94,561 figure is roughly $3,640 per person per night. This matches the published Singita pricing, especially given the peak season dates a July honeymoon would land on.

Is It Worth It?

Several commenters who had stayed at Singita properties said the price was justified. Taylorlewallenlin, who said she did her honeymoon at a Singita lodge, wrote a long defense of the per-night cost, “There’s a premium for being able to stay in undisturbed nature (there are only so many permits to enter) and have daily safari drives with expert guides. You could ask your guide anything about animals, astronomy, or the local culture. They were all master-level guides which is impressive to see.”

She added, “There’s also a huge safety component—they have armed guards standing outside your room and with you on tour to protect against animals. The luxury is insane because they have rare wines, Michelin-level meals, spa treatments—all in the middle of a national park (8 hours from a town, incredibly rural and undisturbed, no paved roads or anything). Everything is flown in by bush plane to the property.”

Another commenter said she has done 11 safaris at various price points and that “Singita is ELITE. Just like literally everything else in the world, there are all different price points for all different budgets.”

Singita did not respond to an email seeking comment.

The Cheaper Africa

Other commenters pointed out that luxury safaris are available at a fraction of Niki’s quote. Jordan Stender said she had booked an 18-day South Africa itinerary taking in Cape Town, the Winelands, safari and Zanzibar, at five-star resorts throughout, for around $22,000. Nic described a five-day Serengeti safari through an outfit called Sustainably Africa for “like $5K.” Olivia Jones said she stayed at Kambaku River Sands in Kruger on a honeymoon special for under $1,000 per person per night.

&Beyond, the other major name in the luxury-safari market, came up repeatedly as the cheaper-but-still-elite alternative. “We did &Beyond and loved it,” wrote Keirhan. Another commenter, Maggie, said she had booked a 16-day &Beyond itinerary for half Niki’s quote, airfare included. Several others recommended Roane Travel, Access 2 Tanzania, and Costco Travel as planners that come in well below the Singita level without sacrificing the experience.

Comments on the thread reveal both that $94,000 for two weeks in Africa is what upscale safaris cost, and that more affordable options are available.

For travellers considering a high-end safari, there may be more information in the comments than in the video. Singita is at the ceiling of the category and prices accordingly. The luxury-safari market a tier or two below includes &Beyond, regional specialists, and travel-agent-built itineraries through operators like Costco Travel, and may offer similar experiences for half the spend. Some travellers who have done both say they cannot tell the difference once they are on the game drive.
