A Central Florida creator bought Frontier Airlines’ GoWild Pass, which sells unlimited flights across a fixed window for one flat fee. She shared with viewers some of the pass’ pros and cons.
Jessica (@jessica.barrientos19), whose channel covers travel, lifestyle, and local finds around Central Florida, laid out the purchase in a short video on Aug. 12. “Some of you may disagree with me—it’s OK,” she says at the top.
“It is an unlimited amount of flights that you can take between now and February,” she says. “However, you have to pay the taxes on these flights.”
She says it’s a fun way to travel on short notice.
“Our first trip is going to be next week,” she says. “We are going to Chicago.”
For Jessica, some of the trade-offs include paying taxes on every ticket and squeezing everything she owns into a personal item. The bigger catch sits in the pass’ own terms, which say a domestic GoWild seat cannot be confirmed until the day before the plane leaves.
Frontier released the Fall & Winter GoWild Pass on Aug. 4, eight days before her video, at $199 with what it called “immediate access.” The travel window runs Aug. 4, 2026, to Feb. 28, 2027, which matches the “between now and February” Jessica describes.
Her point about taxes is correct, and Frontier does not hide it. The pass covers the fare rather than the ticket. The airline’s terms set the fare at “$0.01 … for each segment booked,” then note that “government and airport imposed taxes, fees and charges” start “at approximately $14.90 per person, per flight for domestic travel.” International routes run far higher and “can be in excess of $100 per person, per flight.”
What shapes how a GoWild Pass gets used is not the price but the calendar. Frontier’s terms are unambiguous: “Flights can be booked and confirmed the day before flight departure for domestic travel and starting 10 days before flight departure for international travel.”
Frontier also now sells a way to plan trips ahead of time through an early booking charge. That costs $29 to $89.
The company’s chief commercial officer, Bobby Schroeter, pitched the new pass as combining “the freedom of spontaneous, all-you-can-fly travel with more opportunities to plan ahead for the trips and moments that matter.”
Even inside the booking window, a seat is not promised. The terms warn that “flights and seats are subject to availability; last seat availability is not guaranteed.”
A Points Guy writer testing an earlier version of the pass in May 2023 found exactly that on an Orlando-to-Chicago leg, reporting that “the ‘GoWild! Pass’ column consistently showed no availability” while standard fares sat there for sale.
Booking the day before also drops GoWild tickets outside a federal consumer protection most flyers assume is automatic. Transportation Department rules require carriers to hold a reservation at the quoted fare without payment or let it be “cancelled without penalty, for at least twenty-four hours after the reservation is made if the reservation is made one week or more prior to a flight’s departure.”
Frontier’s terms track that language, allowing refunds “for reservations made 7 days (168 hours) or more prior to departure.” A domestic GoWild booking made the day before departure never clears that bar.
The calendar has holes in it as well. Frontier’s published some blackout dates, where the pass doesn’t work normally.
Flying on those days is possible under the promotion. However, customers will have to purchase a peak day charge the airline, which is 79 to $159.
The other trade-off she flagged is the bag. “You have to carry a personal item,” she says. “I bought vacuum bags because I like to overpack. I can’t exceed anything past this personal bag.”
Frontier allows a personal item “equal to or less than 18 inches by 14 inches by 8 inches, including handles, wheels, and straps,” weighing up to 35 pounds. Anything larger is sold separately. And the GoWild terms confirm the pass changes nothing on that front. They state, “Flights do not include any add-on products (like bags or seats).” Elite status is the exception, carrying free bags and seats.
The comments section is small so far, and the practical tip came from a viewer who told her to “look into Takeoff Luggage.” The brand builds hardshell cases to that exact specification, marketing its personal item suitcase as “designed to glide smoothly into 18x14x8 personal item sizers without struggle” at $124.
Other viewers were sold on the pass itself.
Jessica has also promised to show how the first attempt goes. “Follow along. You can see if I was able to fit everything in my personal bag,” she says.
