Man Goes To Carnival Cruise’s New Celebration Key. Then He Notices The Water: ‘Screaming For Help’

There’s nothing like being in warm Caribbean waters. Relaxing in the sunshine and sea breeze with a libation in hand in between dips in sparkling blue water is the stuff of literal dreams.
However, what happens when that water is not-so-sparkling? What if the experience is less crystalline-blue and more like soup? Recently, one Carnival cruiser, Jon Jon (@ayoo_jonnnn) posted a TikTok with no narration and minimal context. Just the date and place: “Celebration Key, April 12, 2026” hovering across the scene. He’s visiting one of Carnival’s newest guest amenities: Celebration Key.
Opened in July 2025, on the south side of Grand Bahama island, Celebration Key is an exclusive destination that features dedicated spaces for everyone: children to adults. And absolutely everyone loves being in the water.
At first glance the video might seem like a scene from any fun-filled vacation: people are seated at the in-pool bar while others bob around the water, and at least one traveler doing a kind of modified twerk. Then on closer inspection, you notice the water isn’t clear. It looks kind of like someone dumped powdered creamer in it.
Murky Water Gets Clear Response
The cloudy, milky stew obscures the lower halves of everyone enjoying its restorative qualities. But no one on the three-day cruise seems to notice. They’re dancing and drinking, utterly oblivious to the miasma they’re immersed in.
But Jon Jon has noticed, and apparently he was curious about what the internet would say, so he posted it. And of the over 92,000 times it’s been watched, 762 people felt moved to comment on the scene. Some of the comments were really nasty, assuming knowledge of the cruiser’s habits and financial means. And others making comments about the swimmer’s body. But lots of people also could not resist pointing out the people-soup-like nature of the pool water.
“The water is screaming for help,” Junior joked.
While BillH suggested that the state of the water suggests people are wearing sunscreen: “That’s some oily water.”
“No way in hell I’m getting that water. You’d have to peel it off instead of using a towel,” Bob agreed.
Is It Safe To Swim In A Cloudy Pool?
Pool water can get cloudy when the chemical balance gets “off.” This can happen when the pH or alkalinity of the water gets too high, and that imbalance can lead to bacteria growth, or other unpleasant issues. A pool filled to capacity with humans can get cloudy because of body oils, fluids, and various lotions.
Typically, the solution is to bump up the chlorine—that’s why so many public pools have such a strong scent. This is the smell of chloramines, a “gaseous byproduct of used chlorine.” They’re released when the chemical encounters the byproducts of swimmers in the water.
So a stronger chlorine smell can mean the pool is dirtier, not cleaner. This can have unpleasant side effects, from red and irritated eyes to itchy skin. The chloramines can also cause “swimmer’s cough, and contribute to juvenile asthma.”
It’s not wholly unsafe, but arguably gross. And red eyes and itchy skin might be the least of your worries as an unbalanced pool can let bacteria like E. coli flourish. That’s harder to rinse out of eyes and hair.
The upshot? Shower before and after a pool day.
